The leaves are starting to fall, there’s a crisp cool bite to the air, and pumpkins are EVERYWHERE. Yup, it’s October, and from drinks to doorsteps, the pumpkin reigns. While I’m 100% not on board with the pumpkin spice latté, I am totally about these pumpkin pizzas! The only thing pumpkin about them is their shape, and that’s enough for this girl.

Halloween is infinitely more fun now with a toddler who enjoys dressing up, carries a plastic pumpkin and skull around like they’re her favorite stuffed animals, and asks to make spooky treats in the kitchen. So I got a little Pinteresty and busted out the big guns with these pumpkin shaped pizzas.

These individual pumpkin pizzas are perfect for a little build-your-own-pizza party. Make a double or triple batch of dough and section off about softball size balls for each pizza. It’s easy to prep the dough ahead and let it rise, or even shape the dough ahead of time too so all guests/little kids have to do is add the toppings.

To be honest, shaping pizza dough into little individually sized pumpkins takes a little more effort than I anticipated. A small pizza roller like this one on Amazon (affil link) really helps. Once you get a decent oval going, take a knife and cut a couple slits in the top to help form the stem. Fold some of that extra dough from the top under and re-roll into the main pumpkin. Set it on a greased baking sheet dusted with cornmeal and add your favorite toppings!

Build your own pumpkin pizza party

You’ll need:

  • Prepared Pizza Dough - I’ve been liking this Parmesan Black Pepper Pizza Dough from Three Olives Branch, but you can go with your favorite GF pizza dough or the trusty GF flour and greek yogurt crust.

  • Pizza roller (affil link)

  • Baking sheets brushed with olive oil and dusted with cornmeal.

  • Toppings buffet - whatever you’re into, but here are our favorites:

    • Favorite pizza sauce (mix in finely chopped spinach or kale if you have picky eaters)

    • Chopped Spinach/Kale

    • Mushrooms

    • Pepperoni (if you want to be really extra, cut jack-o-lantern faces in them)

    • Cheese - pizza blend/mozzarella/parmesan

Shape the pumpkins ahead of time and transfer to the prepared baking sheet. Set out the toppings and let little ones help build their own pizza. Bake at 450 degrees for about 15 minutes. Enjoy!
